Chas Carlson grew up in Minneapolis playing piano, organ, and synthesizer in many of the local rock bands, like Cain, writing their local hit song “Katy”. Early on he left for Los Angeles where he toured nationally with many acts including Melissa Manchester, Manakin, and Warner Bros. recording artists, the Couchois Band. He appeared on television on the Dina Shore show and the Midnight Special. While in LA, Chas did quite a bit of session work including soundtrack work for movies.
Chas eventually moved back to Minneapolis with his family, where he’s played locally with many bands including Pamela McNeil, Steve Millar, The Wet Spots, and Chace Roberts. Also he’s worked at Flyte Tyme studios in Edina programming synthesizer sounds used for national recording artist Janet Jackson, among others.
Chas is an avid songwriter and a current ASCAP member. He just completed writing and recording an album for Jiggs Lee in Plymouth, where he co-owns Zipperneck Studios with his long time friend Bruce Whitehead. Chas is most comfortable at his grand piano in his studio or on stage with High Noon.
